In a strong move to secure the support of Kampala’s working class, the Manager of the Office of the NRM National Chairman (ONC), Hajjat Hadijah Namyalo Uzeiye, has taken President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni’s economic message straight to the heart of the city's market community. Officiating as chief guest at the finals of the Nakawa Market football tournament, Namyalo delivered a clear message to thousands of traders: this political term must deliver real financial progress to every home.

The tournament brought together hundreds of market vendors who swapped their busy market stalls for the football pitch at Phillip Omondi Stadium in Lugogo. Speaking to the roaring crowd after Kasoli FC won the championship title, Hajjat Namyalo skipped long political talk and went straight to what matters most to ordinary traders: daily earnings and household growth.
Flanked by the Minister for Kampala Capital City and Metropolitan Affairs, Hajjat Minsa Kabanda, Namyalo urged the business community to fully embrace government programs created to boost small businesses. She reminded the vendors that President Museveni’s current term gives every hardworking Ugandan a fresh opportunity to climb out of poverty and build lasting financial stability.

The tournament winners, Kasoli FC representing the maize vendors, walked away with one million Uganda shillings in cash. First runners-up Nyanya FC representing tomato traders received five hundred thousand shillings, while third-placed Nyama FC took home three hundred thousand shillings. A special cash reward of two hundred thousand shillings was also handed to the cassava vendors for their active participation and great team spirit.
Namyalo praised the organizers for using football to bring traders together, noting that sports build trust, teamwork, and peaceful living. She stressed that when market vendors stand united, it becomes much easier for them to organize themselves into formal groups, access development funds, and grow their businesses together.
